Oh, fall is here. The cool brisk mornings and sunny cool days make for good times. But that is just one's opinion.
This Wednesday is the 1st of October and what better way to celebrate than Oktoberfest. Does it mean the same thing?
Anyway break out your (insert German clothing) and your (German object) for this weeks theme.
We will bring cake
ReplyDeleteI'll roast potatoes and some brats. If I have enough time, I'll make some soft pretzels.
ReplyDeleteI will bring a German chocolate pie.
ReplyDeleteThat last one was me. -Rob
ReplyDeleteWe will be there...but have NO idea what we will be bringing. Everyone enjoy the suspense!! -Amy & Co
ReplyDeleteThe Lucas Family is going to put on our apronhosen and gescooken some homemade spƤtzle.
ReplyDeleteAlso - Rob, I am by no means telling you NOT to bring it (Please do!) but German Chocolate is named after an American man named Sam German, not the country of Germany. (insert the cheesy "The More you Know" theme from the 1980's PSAs).
ReplyDeleteAnyone looking for more ideas?? You can bring more sausages, chicken, sauerkraut, rolls, or veggies to round out the meal.
ReplyDeletePenners will bring rolls and some veggies
ReplyDeleteWe're bringing frikadelle- sort of like german hamburger patties coated in bread crumbs, and perfect- I found one that looks like my grandma's recipe.
ReplyDeleteAnd Andy- really?!? I also have a German chocolate cake recipe from my extremely German great-grandmother. (great great grandmother?) Has anyone told the Germans they're not getting credit for this?
I meant to say that beer is also allowed at this gathering if someone wants to be authentic to Oktoberfest.
ReplyDeleteOk, I decided. I'm bringing bread and cheese. Its not so "german" but fits the bill for "European" :)
ReplyDeleteAND Sarra and Jimmie are also bringing two containers of icecream to go with the cake so no lack of dessert this week!
And I support Rob's pie. French fries are french to me (haha)! :)
I'll bring a salad.
