Body to the World

I'm posting this here since I don't have an updated group e-mail list.  Our google contact sheet needs some updating (I'm happy to help with this!)

Dear Community Group Family,

Last time we met we started a discussion about going out together as a group to be the Body to the World.  We're thinking of using some of our already dedicated Wednesdays to go out together as a group.  The schedule is still up for some discussion.  With the first Wednesday of each month dedicated to scattering and connecting with those that God puts in our path, there was some suggestion that maybe the third Wednesday could be used to pursue this mission as a group.  We could also devote the third Wednesday of every other month, to reserve more of our time for our weekly meals in community.  Hopefully we can discuss this on Wednesday as a group - what are your thoughts?

Tim and I are starting to look into some options for us to serve.  We had some suggestions last week already - looking for a family to help through iampeople, playing games with folks at the senior center, serving a meal at a shelter.  Any other ideas?  Another thought that I had was building on existing relationships and connections.  Do you have a neighbor we can help or connect with?  I'm picturing an evening where we assemble at someone's house for a quick bite, or to pick up something to go, and then we just unleash some love and yardwork on a neighbor's home (with permission and invitation, of course!) or we divide out tasks for several different households and then gather for a dessert potluck and debrief on our experiences.  It sounds like the Crosswhites and Johnsons might have an idea with a neighbor of the Johnsons that could use some help and we'll hopefully have more info on that soon.  It's good to gather other ideas too, so please feel free to send them to us or bring them to our meeting on Wednesday!

We'll keep researching options and bring them to the group.  We're hoping to serve as what Dave suggested as "cruise directors" to coordinate some of the logistics to give us possibilities for service.  We are excited to serve with you!  We love being Body to the Body with you and we are looking forward to taking that Love and Light to the World.
